A lot of homes on the numbered streets still have their original hardware, including old mortise locks, the heavy rectangular units set into the door edge. Some locksmiths take one look and quote you a conversion to modern locks because they don't want to open a mortise up. We repair them when parts allow, and honestly, the original hardware is often better built than what would replace it.
The other rowhouse regular: doors that have settled over a hundred years, so the deadbolt stops meeting the strike plate and you're lifting the handle just to lock up at night. That's an alignment fix, not a new lock, and it's one of the cheaper calls we do.
